Acrobatic Gymnastics Technical Committee member since 2014 and President since 2026.
A former Acrobatic gymnast who represented Great Britain at European and World Championships over more than a decade, Melanie Sanders augmented her impact as Athlete Representative for Gymnastics on the British Athletes Commission and was involved with London’s successful bid for the 2012 Olympics. Upon completing her competitive career she became a judge and today holds a Category 1 brevet.
Yearning to return to the physical side of the sport, in 2009 she became Head Acrobatic Gymnastics Coach at Richmond Gymnastics Association (RGA) in London, a club that today boasts 30 World and European medallists. Alongside her position as Chair of the Acrobatic Gymnastics Technical Committee within British Gymnastics, she was elected as a member of the European Gymnastics Technical Committee in 2013.
