Clinical psychologist Bergþóra Kristín Ingvarsdóttir’s myriad roles within the Icelandic Gymnastics Federation have helped make gymnastics in her nation more accessible to all while facilitating positive change for those involved in the sport.

Passionate about safeguarding and athlete wellbeing, Ms. Ingvarsdóttir combined the knowledge she gleaned as a gymnast, coach, and international brevet judge with her studies in sports psychology during six years of work heading the Technical Committee of the Iceland Gymnastics Federation. She continues to be a lecturer in her national federation’s coach education program and also teaches judging courses.
