An Italian national team member from 1984 to 1989, 1988 Olympian Maria Cocuzza’s competitive CV includes the 1986 European Championships, 1987 Mediterranean Games, and 1987 World Championships, after which she was named a “World Class Gymnast” by World Gymnastics. One of her crowning achievements in the sport was competing as an individual at the Seoul Olympics.
Ms. Cocuzza took up coaching in 1989 and attained her Federal Coach qualification in 1994. A longtime national judge, she earned a Category I judging brevet in 2016 after taking part in the intercontinental course. She has judged at 11 European Championships, seven World Championships and one Olympic Games.
